ASSESSMENT OF THE ECONOMIC VALUE AND MORPHOLOGICAL INDICATORS OF ANNUAL HIGH-OLEIC SUNFLOWER HYBRIDS (HELIANTHUS ANNUUS L.) INCLUDED IN THE STATE REGISTER OF VARIETIES SUITABLE FOR DISTRIBUTION IN UKRAINE

Abstract

The trends in the formation of the hybrid composition of annual sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) in Ukraine were analyzed according to the data of the State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Distribution in Ukraine. The total number of registered annual sunflower hybrids of high-oleic direction of use was established, which is 63 hybrids, which is 9.4% of the total number of high-oleic sunflower hybrids in the Register of Varieties. Of these, 49 are foreign hybrids (77.7%) and 14 are domestic hybrids (22.3%).
Objective: To determine the main indicators of productivity, quality and morphological characteristics of seeds of annual sunflower hybrids (Helianthus annuus L.) of high-oleic use when growing them in the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones of Ukraine.
Materials and methods of research: Qualification examination of annual sunflower hybrids of high-oleic direction of use was carried out at the research points of the Ukrainian Institute of Plant Variety Examination within the soil and climatic zones: Steppe, Forest-steppe. The reliability of the results of the plant variety examination was ensured by conducting research at at least three research points within one soil and climatic zone. Field, laboratory, mathematical and statistical methods were used.
Results. The economic value and morphological characteristics of annual sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) of high-oleic use, which were included in the Register of Varieties in Ukraine for the period 2010–2025, were studied. Conclusions. According to the results of the qualification examination at the VOS, the hybrids are excellent, uniform and stable. According to the results of research at the PSP, it was established that the hybrids are recommended for cultivation in both the steppe and forest-steppe zones. The highest content of oleic acid was characterized by the hybrids: ‘AM PRESTYZh’, ‘P64HE233’, ‘IR Lehat’, ‘IR Polysk’.
